XML Beautifier privacy policy

Last updated: October 21, 2026

XML Beautifier is a browser extension that formats and minifies XML on your computer. This policy explains what it does with data. In short: your XML never leaves your computer.

What the extension collects

Nothing. The extension does not collect, sell or share personal data, browsing history, the XML you work with or usage statistics. It has no accounts, no tracking and no analytics inside the extension.

What stays in your browser

Network requests

The extension makes no network requests of its own and sends nothing to any server. There is one case where it loads a file: when you click the XML Beautifier icon on a tab that shows an XML file, the extension reads that file again from the same address to get the exact original text. It does this by injecting a small script into the current tab, or from the extension itself. The request goes only to the website that tab is already showing, the same way your browser loaded the page. That website receives a new request each time you click the icon. The website content it gets is formatted on your device and is not sent anywhere else.

If the tab shows a file on your computer, Chrome lets the extension read it only after you turn on Allow access to file URLs for XML Beautifier. The extension may offer to open its Chrome settings page so you can do that.
